The school timetable, rather than being a dry instrument which allows the school to function on some pre-determined cycle, is indeed the most creative tool available to a school manager and the single most important item in changing the school ethos and improving efficiency.

Schools today are often tied to computerised timetable systems which can only respond to a limited extent to the uniqueness that is each school.  Basic staff:student ratios which often determine the financial viability of a school are often compromised by an inflexible programme.

Traditional timetabling, depending on the skill of the individual timetabler working with pencil and paper to create a specially-designed solution to a school’s problems, can not only make the school run more smoothly and allow teachers to work in the most effective ways but it can also improve the school’s financial performance by getting the maximum from its human resources.
